With me not having a proper Turbo bumper on my car with the mesh middle, will this be making my car run not as good as it should do? I won't be getting the air it should have for the intercooler, and maybe rad. I have a normal spotlight front bumper on my Turbo for now til I get my proper bumper later. I was just thinking tonight the IC is hidden a bit more now compared to the real Turbo bumper. Cheers for any info

Any info on this? I am still not happy with the water system on my Astra Turbo. If I sit in traffic for a short time the temp goes up to half, it's hard to get it back down again unless I go for a drive on a long stretch of road. I have a copy radiator in my car, it may need an original one back on it. The bumper may also be restricting the airflow to my rad as it's not an original Turbo one. The temp went to half way tonight and I took the bottle top off. It was making all sorts of mad noises like burps and splutters. I am not used to this, as my 2.2 hardly went half way on the temp. I could remove the water top on my old Astra and it hardley had any pressure in it. Why is this car different? Cheers

My 1.8 would soon get up to the half temp and then sit there all the time, never go up or down, so i was concerned when i got my turbo in traffic for the first time as it went up and over the half, which i thought was wierd as it usually sits under the half mark when being driven, rarely see it get to half temp.
Also as it is a side mounted IC would the bumper make any difference? as neither the SXI/SRI bumper or the SRi-T or GSi bumper have a side opening. |

ALL the astra's (turbo and non) in australia sit on the halfway mark the WHOLE time. My 2.2 sometimes goes a touch over... Doesn't matter what you do they sit at that. I'd say it's normal, I mean, at halfway on a 40 deg day, my underbonnet gets burning! lol

If I sit in traffic in the T8 the temp goes to half (90?) and depending how and where I drive then depends whether it comes down or not. Usually if I do a drive for say 40miles with few stops then it sits at around 80deg but traffic puts it up till 90 and the fan keeps it from going over 90deg usually. My old Coupe with GSI bumper acted the same way so the bumper doesnt make much difference imo when regarding temp.
PS: When u sitting in traffic u dont have air blasting into the engine bay do ya? hence the rise in temperature when sitting still in traffic allowing the fan to not take it over 90 (Half).

I blast hot air inside the car when the temp goes up. Is this ok? I some times switch the aircon on and it takes the temp down more, as I then have 2 fans running.

I dont really think cooking yourself will make any difference to the engine temp to be honest, though it will make u sweat alot.
I also dont think the aircon fan will do much to cool the engine down either. Your car isnt behaving any different to anyone else who has a Turbo. Mine acts the same, my previous was also the same. The fan kicks in at around 90degrees, the thermostat IIRC is fully open by this time (or is that the cooler running one? i forget) anyways, the fan will (or should) prevent the temp going much higher than 90, if it hits 100 then u might have probs, otherwise, ur car is running fine and you dont need to cook yourself whenever your in traffic.
