    Astra Mk5 central locking problem

I have a problem with my Mk5 Astra (55) plate.
I can lock the vehicle using the remote fob but cannot open it.
I have to use the key in the door lock and then when the drivers door is opened it operates all the doors and boot.
I have synced the key but made no difference.
    Any ideas please.

Have you a spare key? Try that and see if it locks and unlocks the doors by the buttons. I'd be inclined to suspect that the unlock button in your fob is fubar. Trouble is the keys can't be opens so repair is not likely, so new key.

Thanks Chewy, yes the battery is OK, I'm wondering whether I can get the key tested, I suspect that's where the problem lies.

Thanks for your reply, I only have the one key but I also suspected the key was the trouble.

OK, the fob has been tested. one of the two channels not transmitting.
Any ideas of what my options are, or does it have to be a main dealer repair?

Main dealer will say a new remote. Is it just a faulty switch inside?
