    Strut upper attachment

    Took my 04 1.6 8v for a mot on saturday just gone and got a advisory quoteing nearside and offside mcpherson struts have slight movement at the upper attachment.

    Can anyone tell me what part this is and is it easy to replace, my vx garage who mot,d my car quoted £378 to replace them.

    basically,the whole suspension strut needs to removed as a whole from car,spring compresesed and top mounts changed,is this something you can do or have done before?also its only an advisory so its only slight play at present which is ok,and ideally you are supposed to change the bearing section and top rubber mount on each side but most people just changed the actual top strut rubber mount.

    I,ve had the car from new and has never had any suspension work, unfortunately i,m disabled and wont be able to do the work so i,ll leave it to the experts, thanks for the reply
