    Stuttering and missfire!

just bought myself a MK4 Astra 1.6 16v, EML comes on after a while driving and all the time is stuttering, jerking and missfiring. Does it usually between 2 and 3000rpm (which irritatingly enough is the rev range whilst on the motorway!) but doesnt always do it.

I'm waiting for the software for my diagnostics kit to arrive and once it does I will plug it in. the eml isnt on constantly, its off for a while and then comes on. The EGR is blanked off.

I also get the sound of petrol thumping back into the tank? I thought it was because the EGR was blanked and that was held on by 1 bolt (its not, got both bolts on and the EGR is clearing)

Slightly annoying me now and would quite like to fix it!

    Lil Help!?

Depending on the age then either the Pedal Test or Paperclip Test should let you read any error codes stored which should let you know why the EML light is on:

Have you done the relevant pedal/paperclip test yet? Try that before jumping on coil pack issues.

I did the paper clip test and all i got was the EGR valve (which when plugged in, was found to be ok) so te paperclip test may not show the correct result
