Soon to be zlet owner . . Two Questions (dv/exhaust related)

Hi all, am currently on the look out for my perfect gsi. . . Hopefully find one soon enough!

    Right questions, all comments appreciated
    1. Are there any dump valves that have a flutter/resirc valve sound for a z20let? Not really into the single note sound any more!

    2. What is the best exhaust system Inc. Pre+cat to get the astra vxr nurburgring kinda sound, can't remember if they come with the Remus or miltek. The not intrusive but that bite/boost noise they make, if you know what I mean, and with the pops and bangs I am assuming this is achievable as they are near on same engine

    cheers chaps

My standard recirc flutters a bit, but not very loud. I have a tx autosport bov to, recently fitted, sounds lovely TBH, not loud or offensive.

most z20let's hate external waste gates / BOV

best bet is uprate the STD recirc valve with a forge recirc valve - can be found at a reasonable price on ebay

you cant get an exact same note on the mk4 most of us have tried

but you are looking at getting

    pre cat replacement pipe
    200 cell sports cat
either resonated or non resonated cat back

resonated means center box and rear box
non resonated means straight pipe from sports cat to a back box

not much difference in noise until you put your foot down

more chance of pops an bangs with non resonated

exhaust needs to be either 2.5 inch or 3 inch

You would normally only get that 'flutter' sound if you were running no dv or re-circ valve and that sound is normally compressed air trying to escape through the turbo and stalling it, not ideal really. Personally i would just uprate to a Forge re-circ valve.

There are a wide selection of exhausts to choose from and you could get it to sound similar to a VXR with one of the two you have mentioned but pops and bangs is more to do with how the cars map is written rather than the make of exhaust.

Hope you find a nice example GSi and be sure to post some pics.

    Cheers chaps.
Are there any exhausts that are more boost noise than exhaust?
Ah griffin that reminds me, the 3 inch exhaust is obviously better for high power, but will it be bad to run on say a standard gsi?
Tge standard exhaust is 2.25 isn't it? Do you need anything to adapt it to fit a 3inch system?

Just found the forge item. Seems good! Do these flutter louder than the standard bov?

    Thanks all

Oh and there will be plenty of pics!

Im no expert on these cars yet, there are plenty of guys on here with way more knowledge than me and im sure they will correct me if im wrong.
But as far as im aware you don't need a 3 inch until you're knocking on the 300 bhp door.
Most up rated exhaust are 2.5" so you get a nice gain over the standard set up.

You dont want the flutter noise, the OE recirc diaphram split and this is the common noise which they then make

you want the forge recirc piston recirc valve

Milltek is a pretty good brand, if you buy new you get a lifetime warranty and they cover pretty much everything.

everyone will have had different experience with each product and opinions vary, your best to search youtube or manufacturers websites for video clips of different exhuast notes

It'S quite difficult to actually hear the noise of exhausts on YouTube. There is a coupe though with a scorpion system that sounded really nice.
Oh maybe I'll just stick with the forge valve
