    Big bang doing 80pmh

I was traveling from plymouth to my auntys in stoke on trent and my oil light started flashing and engine light came on then bang rolled into hard shoulder on further investigation theres a hole in my engine just left of oil filter behind manifold my car is a 1999 T REG astra estate MK4 with 100k on clock i now need to sort this problem out.

I reackon a 2nd engine becuase i am quite mechanical mindind but going down deep in the engine with piston wont be woth it i dont reackon but am open to sugestions

If i fit a 2nd engine are they easy to fit does the gear box come away easy??

    cheers for your time people

if you use the same engine it will be a straightforward swap and as you are going to be lifting the engine out the gearbox can stay where it is. would be worth fitting a new 3 piece clutch whilst you have the engine out as well

fairly easy, stirp the ancillaries off the engine, unbolt the gearbox from the block, whip off the bonnet and lift the engine out whilst disconnecting the input shaft
