    vxr afm mod

this is how my engine bay looks now on the coupe and i want to change to the vxr afm as i think its dying as the traction light comes on when i floor it, and says air flow high or something message on opcom

if i got a vxr 80mm afm what pipe work would i need to change, or a pic showing me the same box as mine with new parts would be helpfull too

    thanks

i dont really understand wot u sed there fella, if u havent got vxr afm on and its a 70mm one, then you cant just put vxr 80mm one on and off u go, it needs mapping in..

the traction light will be on coz ur wheel spinning.. unless u mean the spanner light??

No wheels wernt spinning. I was in 4th on a dry road going straight. I know it would need mapping in. That's ok. But what pipes would I need. Or can you get parts to increase the size of the pipe or do I need to change the chrome elbow that goes in to the afm? The airbox is a 1.9 astra h one. So do I need to run a pipe to new bigger afm or would afm fit in the current airbox?

you need a silicone pipe to airbox from 80mm or modify airbox like courtney do to open out the outlet on airbox as afm is too large, the rest of your kit is sameish, may need slight cutting and opening up etc

So just a 80mm pipe to airbox size pipe then 80mm pipe to size of the elbow. And cut elbow or pipe down slightly that gies to elbow?

    you could either..

sell your kit you have now and buy a vxr kit..

measure the chrome pipe, if its 70mm boar which i think it will be, then you need a 80mm one and then the airflow meter, and then you need to eirther buy a box straight from courts already modded or try and do it your self..

first off id be re-doing that AFM extension harness as it looks a bit shit

whilst u have the iron out, get on with the earth crimp and re-do that

you may find that the AFM is perfectly fine and its just a dodgy couple of harnesses that need correcting.

This would be my first port of call before spending any money!

The earth crimp is a must - even if it "may" have been done, at least check it! Takes 5-10mins max!
