Astra MK 4 Wing Mirror Question

    Hi all,

Some little scumbag went round the local neighbourhood recently smashing up everyones wing mirrors.......including mine (passenger side)

I have a 1998 S reg 1.6. It is in white but the wing mirrors/bumbers etc are not colour coded like the later models (the mirrors are electric). I am really stuggling to find the replacement part as everything on ebay etc seems to be primed ready for spraying, but mine are just black/grey plastic.

When was the switch over between black plastic and colour coded? Are there any part numbers etc that will help in my search?

The actual mirror is not damaged, it is just the front and back casing that clips together that is damaged. Is there anywhere I can buy just the casing (a Vauxhall parts seller on ebay told me that it is not possible to get just the casing and I would have to buy the whole mirror).

your best bet is to call a local scrappy or Vauxhall breakers yard. they always seem to have those kind of parts in stock.

Looking online at the various breakers and parts sellers, something is still confusing me.

They seem to all be 'primed' ready for painting. As mine has never been painted, do I just buy a 'non painted' mirror or do I require a different mirror?

Will a non painted 'primed' mirror just look odd?

not too sure to be honest mate, you should try the for sale section on the main forum.

Another option would be to search ebay for "Astra Breaking", find one similar to yours and post the seller a question asking for a price on the wing mirror.
they might then set up a buy it now on there for you, or even let you pick it up in person.

Buy the ones that are ready to be primed and get them professionally painted to match the fade of your white.

I have a white 2002 Astra and its got white mirror casings and looks excellent. I had to replace the front tow hook cover and that came primed. Was simple and cheap to be painted so I would imagine that a mirror casing wouldnt be much dearer.
