    The first mods...

    RIGHTY HO THEN!

Hi all! Ive been running about in a 1.8 astra sport for a few weeks now. It had some problem with the clutch slave cylinder so is in the workshop being fixed at the mo
No pictures at the mo as its being fixed lol. Its a black more-door.
The only mods done were the dirty air box mod, then completely changed the air box for a closed carbon fibre induction kit.

I should be getting my work bonus in the next few weeks so thought I would treat myself to something for the car, dont know how much it will be but I wont be looking at anything more than a few hundred quid anyway

My first thoughts were a smoother front bumper, which I'm still considering, but I dont think the front bumper on its own wouldn't be enough as the overall look wouldnt be right.
So I was then thinking maybe either lowering springs or coilies?
If I went for coilies how much should I be looking to pay? I obviously want cheap as possible but dont want them to explode in a few months lol.

Or what other, alternative, mods would people recommend?
For the front bumper I did consider just taking off the silly "splitter" thing from the bottom and fitting a leon cupra splitter. This would be well within my budget and would have plenty of change left over

Dont really want a s/s backbox as they are great fun driving around town but do my nut in on long motorway journeys!
But wouldn't mind the irmshcer exhaust as at the moment I just have a puny little pipe poking out my rear

Really I guess all I'm asking is where do I begin?!
Sorry if this topic has been started a million times before

i wouldnt bother with the coilovers as cheap ones are not going to give the nicest ride.
So i would say some lowering springs and a coupe bumper could be picked up for less than 250

will make a big difference to the look

Are there any recommended brands of springs to look for? How much should I be paying for a set?
And are they model specific or are all mk4 springs the same?

eibach are genereally considered the best, they re different for vans/estates and different weights so if you get 2lrt astra spring it wont sit low enough as your car is too light etc so make sure you get the right ones

I know they aren't Eibach, but how about these:

Unbranded, but nice and cheap :-O

Or some come with shocks as well:

What do you guys think? Anyone had any experience with either of these?

I'm trying to decide what grill I want? I had an astra a couple of years ago and went through quite a few grill changes as I couldn't decide whats best! I do like the look of the OPC one but 2 things put I off: The price, and the fact its got an opel badge :-p
I like the griffin badge or no badge!
I might have to just look out for an irmy one :-p

Ah lame too soon, not got my bonus payout yet lol. I will have to keep my eyes peeled :-)
I dont see a lot of difference between the side skirts and the standard skirts?

With the coilies, what are they like to fit? And would I need anything else? Like different drop links? Wheel spacers? etc
