Rear pad replacement - handbrake cable release problems

(Trying to) change the rear brake pads on a 2004 Zafira 1.6 Life.

I’ve released the very end of the handbrake cable from the brake lever cage on the caliper, and removed the lower caliper bolt. The caliper will not swing upwards because the handbrake cable prevents it (under tension). Haynes says to detach the handbrake cable from the mounting bracket on the caliper, and this would help. I cannot see how to do this. I would have expected a slot on the mounting bracket and be able to unclip the cable, but the cable goes through a hole on the bracket with no obvious way of releasing cable from bracket.

Since Haynes is wrong on so many other things, would removing the upper caliper bolt as well help me lift the caliper off without having to detach the handbrake cable from the mounting bracket?

Appreciate any help as I'm stuck at the moment.

    Cheers
    Martin

Sorry chaps, being a numpty. The cable just slides through the hole in the bracket (after removing the clip), but it was all gunged up so didn't move easily.

Just got to get hold of a caliper wind back tool now.....
