    Oil

Drove the car last night and realized a smell of oil, left it on drive and woke up this morning. Went to check dipstick level and noticed oil over the engine bay. Continued to check dipstick and realized it wasnt inserted properly, so the little o ring was not sealing the tube. Any idea if this would be the problem? Cheers

Yes. could be. On the other half's car there is a yellow bit that is supposed to come out with the dipstick (not an astra) it has snapped.

So engine bay can get a bit oily.

is there alot of oil? if so your more than likly looking at your rocker cover gasket blowing out this could be down to your rocker breathers being blocked or your one way valve being blocked.... give them a look over as it wont cost anything to check

    hope this helps
