    Whistling Noise

    Astra MK4 1.6 8v

Hi i have noticed that i have a whistling noise coming from under my bonnet when accelerating until i change gears. If i sit in neutral and rev the engine i can also hear it, it does seem to be alot worse when the car is cold.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be??

I thought it might be an air leak but its more like a high pitched metal on metal noise rather than an air whistle

I own a 54 plate coupe 1.8 16v bertone and mine started whistling. After nearly pulling all my hair out, it turned out to be a faulty timing belt pulley. It whistled like mad when accelerating over 2,500 revs but stopped when i dipped the clutch, it was quiet as a mouse when stationary and i revved the boll*x out of it.

I had a loud high pitched squeling noise on the motorway today. It hasnt returned since my trip on the motorway.

Im worried it may be like an earth quake, you have a problem, it goes way and then when you think everything is fine... aftershock! Then your in for something expensive.

Im 17 years old and at this rate will be bald or grey by 25!

Last week the aircon compressor was rebuilt at a MASSIVE COST.

    This week its something new.
