    X18XE1 tuning?

    Hey all.

My Astra has a X18XE1 engine, and after driving a Vectra V6, I really fancy getting some more power.

I've done the airbox mods, and a catback, straight through exhaust, and I want more!

I've been considering getting a second engine and tuning it, better cams etc..

Whats peoples veiws? are re-maps worth it?

Re-map will be good, but only when you do some work to the engine: exhaust manifold 4-2-1 with heat wrap, camshafts, inlet manifold, bigger air scoop and then remap.

    Where can I get a 4-2-1 manifold?
    And camshafts...?

Bigger air scoop? What air scoop? I'm currently running a X20XE throttle body, which is a wee bigger than a standard X18 TB.

I do plan to make a de-cat pipe too once I can sorce a cheap downpipe.

The scoop off a Vectra C

You can buy decat pipes cheap enough off ebay the manifold is £350 tho.
Cheapest cams i can find are £400
Dbilas intake manifold will give you +30 BHP but it costs £1,000 (includes a remap tho)

I have the X18XE1 in my coupe but the parts are just too exspensive.

Yeh not much bank for the buck is there...!

I've been offered a remap for £110. and I've already modified my intake.

    Manifolds make that much differ?
    Shes running around 120bhp now, I wouldn't mind 150...

Yes your standard manifold is variable and very restrictive
from what i understand you cant remap the X18XE1 without chipping it, so make sure whoever quoted you £110 knows whats there doing cheapest i have found so far is £250 for chip tuning, someone said he can do it for me for £170 but it turned out he couldnt...

Regarding the restrictive intake manifold is there not a cheaper alternative to the diblas option??
I have heard you can strip the internal variable sytem out of the x18xe1 intake manifold but not sure if that would be detrimental to performance?? whether if tied together with uprated cams, air scoop, exhaust flow and chip it would work better??

Sorry to hijack your thread dude but do you have pics of the x20xe throttle body attached? Also how easy is it to fit?

Not clued up on x18xe1 tuning but know there's a member on here that made 150bhp from his, although he did spend £2000+ in the process
