One for the whizz's.
If i travel home from the gym via the motorway, it's 8.4 miles. Whilst on the motorway i sit at a constant 60mph. the motorway entry is right next to the gym and the exit is right next to my house, so it's practically all motorway except perhaps 0.5 mile which would be 50mph zone.
The alternative is travelling through town.
30mph zones, but you'll be lucky if you get this due to the traffic. The final couple mile or so would be 50mph zone, but if there's other road users about which there generally is at that time, you'll be seeing about 40mph. There's the obvious stop start through town which is a couple mile perhaps.
The distance for this journey would be 5.5/6.0 mile.
I get a mixed MPG return of about 35-37, depending.
I have no specific town MPG returns, but i'd suspect 30-32mpg, 33mpg at best.
I know one is longer than the other, but it's also a constant speed with minimal gear changing ...... but as said, it's longer.
Which would you suspect would use less fuel & would it be a bit less or a fair bit less?
I aim for the gym 4 days a week minimum, so it adds up over time.
