New wipers or REFILLS???? What do u do?

Most of us buy brand new wiper blades when our own wear out, I presume.
The other option is to "simply" buy the actual rubber blade and replenish that part only.

The questions are, how many of you actually do that? Where can you buy them from? And are they any good?

[I currently have Bosch Supers on my car and looking at the setup it looks like the rubber blades are non-removable, i.e. when the wipers are wrecked you need to buy a whole new wiper]

I've bought the wiper rubber refills for older vehicles where the appropriate wiper isn't widely available any more. Great also for older saabs when you can't get the headlight wiper blades any more

If the rubbers are replacable i'll buy them for £2, if not then there's not a lot of choice really! And would you buy new wheels when your tyres wear out?

Replacing the rubbers only addresses part of the issue, but the plastic arms of the blades themselves sag and wear over time, and these can be much to blame for poor 'wiping'.

Get yourself on eBay and buy some flat blade wipers for £7 delivered, job done.

I bought a set of ebay flat wiper blades last year. They were taken off by my garage at MOT time as they weren't wiping the windscreen adequately, apparently.

Since then I have gone back to tried and tested Bosch Supers for £11 delivered off ebay. Replace them every 12 months or more.

Also flat blades look really silly on the standard mk4 wiper arm. You also need to modify the wiper arms if you want a decent 'look' too.

Looks like no one has posted up about buying refills for the mk4...

Never had an issue at all on the Astra or 2 Zafira's using eBay/AceParts supplied flat blade wipers for £7 a pair. Still, as I said above, changing just the rubbers only fixes part of the issue, but for £2 why not buy some rubbers and tell us how they go

I was just gonna suggest the flat euro wipers until I was beaten to it. A pair of flat blades for our Xsara Picasso from Citroen are £58, the Halfords equivalent cost me £25 and are just as good (yours should cost less as picasso's have huge wipers).

The beauty of the flat blades is the fact they hug the screen better and as they don't have the fiddly metal linkages like normal wipers don't freeze anywhere near as bad in winter and defrost very quickly.

Like I said, price is good, but they do look silly on the mk4 arms.. be honest Unless you change the arms to mk5 ones or similar

    £2 for rubbers? Where from?

I replace the whole blade, mainly as I get them on Trade at work.

But I'd have to replace the rubbers on the mk5 arms I've got though, as the lengths are different to normal mk5 ones
