    Hey,

As far as i can remember this is the layout on my Mk4.

    H1 - Full beams?
    H7 - Dipped Beam
    501 - sidelights

I fitted HID's but thats personal choice, however i noticed a marked improvement fitting Philips Xtrme power H7 bulbs over the stock halogen. Some have said that Osram Nightbreakers are better, but i never tried those.

Full beams again not sure but the above companies are likely to make those types too.

I haven't found any sidelight thats brighter yet. I opted to go for LED sidelights to match the whiteness of my HID's, however LED sidelights may look too bright against the uprated halogens, but for £4 its worth a shot.

    Hope that helped

    DOH!!

yeah the Mk5 still has the same layout i think, well H7 anyway as my GF's mk5 bulbs went and i used my spare.

Good luck getting your hand into the tight space to fit the bulbs mate lol you need to go in under the wheel arch through a wee 5" hole find your way around and try not to drop anything lol

I think its easier fitting a coil to a woman - maybe

I had a Mk2 Megane and it was the exact same, you need to go in through the underside of the wheel arch. My advice would be to take the wheel off as you'll get in better.

Twist off the plastic cover, reach in and remove the rubber cup over the lights, luckily the astra has the quarter turn twisting system to the bulbs, the megane had a stupid wire spring holding the bulbs in, i kept dropping it lol

If you dont want to take the wheel off, you can get away with pointing the wheel in or out, to give you more space.

Someone may have a better way of doing this, but i didn't find any.

    no H1s in the mk4
if you search in goggle you get links to loads off old post on here that explane it perfectly
501 is first turn on the lights switch
    H7 is second turn
and HB3 / 9005 is the stalk switch
if it ant broke, don't fix it.....mod it! MK4 flip keys £13.99
