Car cuts out when 1st started, service light flashes.

Morning people! Have recently purchased a 2.0 SRI-T have yet to put up a thread as i have not got out of it since buying it, but rest assured this weekend after a wash a diary thread will be posted, but first.....

..... last night and this morning i fired the car up for it to die on me and the service light flashed a couple of times, then went out and the car started fine! Has anyone heard of this before, i know i should get it plugged into Op-com or peddle test it to get the codes but im hoping it something that people will know if the top of your head!

    Cheers

Was it a flashing spanner light when it dies on you? That points to a immobiliser fault

That was the one mate! Happened 3/4 starts yesterday, going to get op-com ready as I start it next time, will report back

Edit: although it didn't happen this time the error codes showing with ref to immobiliser are:

    P1612
    P1613

If you have a spare key start using that to see if the key itself is at fault

I'll try the spare! It hasn't done it the past 3 times now which is weird as to how hit and miss the problem is! Don't know how true it is but i saw a thread somewhere that a dieing battery can do this, don't know how but it would figure if true as I was told the battery isn't the best when I had the car!

Having a few teething problems, this morning the rear brakes were stuck on!
