firstly let me apologise. I'm cunrrently skiving at work and trying to access the forum via my phone so sorry about spelling and if this has already been asked. poor 3G reception is making it hard to read through all the posts.
ok, first... the situation. other than changing Head units i've never done any installs. so this is budget install to get my head round everything and add some depth to my sound rather than window shattering volume.
i've got my hands on a 1000W vyle amp, an 8" pioneer sub and some cheap.6x9s . Normally I'm a stickler for quality but i got most of it on the cheap and i plan on leaving it in the car when I sell it in a yr or so or give to a friend.
everything on the car is stock. 51 plate Mk4 1.4 Astra Estate
so to the dilema. Iv noticed that when I'm parking, when I'm turning the wheel, the power steering pump causes a dip in the headlights. once I install the amp I have a feeling that a heavy bass may cause the lights to dip with the music.
although the amp is 1000W, it's 4 ch and the RMS is considerably lower for each channel.
i understand the importance of 'the big 3' but like i said i'm selling in year or so ajd the car isnt anything special so I dont really want to spend the money on the 0gauge cables to do it.
i can get my hands on a 1Farad cap and I think that should solve any problems I encounter with the lights dipping and probably stop.the power steering pump doing it too.
However, I am concerned about the affect of the Cap on my battery. if i understand properly, when the car is parked and ignition is off. everything is powered down and the power circuit will consist of the battery sitting in parallel with the capacitor all the time.
my concern is, if the cap isnt completely efficient will it eat away at my battery if I dont use the car for a couple of days.
any advice on this is appreciated.
