    astra mk5 clutch

    hi all just a quick question i was just wondering if all mk5 1.7 cdti are dual mass flywheels as ive just got a mk5 and release bearing sounds noisey the lad i got the car of did say he did the clutch and its not dual mass but looks he may not have done the clutch its a 05 plate 80bhp thats bin remapped

    I think all of the new diesels have DMF but correct me if im wrong.

    il just have to fone autovaux or vauxhall and see what they say just thought id ask hear first and see

    So if the car does not have a Dual Mass Flywheel & he did indeed swap the clutch plate, why on earth did he not change the Release bearing at the same time ??, seeing as they relatively cost peanuts to buy .......

    I think someone is telling you some Porkies ....... & maybe trying to hide the fact the the DMF is indeed noisy .....

    not sure bit if its the hidrolic type they are expensive

    From the looks of the clutch plate (For the 1.7 Cdti), which has cushioning springs on it, This type of kit would not bolt to a DMF, The drive plates that do generally have no springs within due to the DMF absorbing all the shock / vibrations Etc. I do find it strange though that the 1.7 Cdti would not have a DMF ... Perhaps due to the power output it was not deemed necessary .....

    Im fairly certain the 1.7CDTi has a DMF but apparently the 110ps ecotec may not...

    I dont like the sound of these DMF, what was wrong with the old clutch system? Mate of mine had a golf, and it cost him £300 just to replace the plate, it would have been double for the DMF, and he was advised against just doing the clutch but coldnt afford the whole kit and kaboodle!
