    Knocking from rear of coupe

    Hi,

I have a 1.8 2002 Coupe, For the past couple of weeks I have noticed a knocking from what I think is the rear of the car when I brake lightly or go over small bumps, If I brake hard it doesn't make the noise, if I hit a pot hole etc it doesn't knock. I took it to my local garage today for a service and for the to take a look at the knocking. They found play in the anti roll bar drop links and have replaced them but the knocking is still there. Any ideas guys?

    Thanks in advance

well the anti roll bar drop links are on the front so it will not stop knocking on the rear. i suspect either the shock absorber bushes, broken coil spring or worn bush in torsion beam link arm

could even be worn rear exhaust rubber hangers allowing the back box to hit the floorpan

Would it make this noise all the time if those components were worn?

not always, could just happen over bumps or when under flexed tension from braking
