    Write-Off Today

    My much loved astra g was written-off this afternoon, by some idiot turning into on-coming traffic without a look what so-ever, but the reason i am posting this thread is i want to know how i go about buying it back, for spare parts n selling bits and bobs off it ???

    not too sure but think your insurance company will offer u the choice mine didnt an just took the car

    alloys, interior, things like that, all the things i will have on the new one, all assuming i can buy it back from them...

    Liam if your cars on your drive,
    Try to insist on it being inspected in situe,

    Inform your insurance that you wish to retain the car for its spares,
    Do not accept the first offer,
    Try to negotiate with the third parties insurers,(they could give you a better deal)

    It is no ones property until you agree

    what do you mean dont accept the 1st offer? the offer for my car or my pay out?.... plus im only 3rd party fire n theft if that makes a difference, sorry if i sound thick but not done any of this before

    they will make 3 offers to buy your car from you in damaged state always reject the first offer the insurance company make. BUT TAKE THE SECOND OFFER as you only get 3 offers and the third is usually lower than the first and second and you must take the third offer or they may not pay out at all

    be very carefull and dont let them take the car away from your property if possible

    as for salvage all you can do is ask to buy it back after the settlement figure clears etc etc

    right so either way the car is going to be taken i just gotta hope they will let me buy it back from them, my car is insured for 2500 so i was thinking that i would get that as a payout, its all bloody confusing to me lol
