went to look at another gsi tonight, the one scrapheap mentioned,
has done 90k with history, body and interior is mint, has a d lock on the gear stick so its made a mess of centre tunnel but easy fix with a new one, its due a timing belt change again no biggy as a mate cud do it.
only thing he said is there was a litle blue smoke on start up but it goes after its warm, and if the cars sat still on tick over theres a little smell of oil inside the car..
wiper motors broke, again no big prob £20 fix
but it does have the auto wiper sensor and dimming mirror from factory
its totally standard but has a laptop map on which his mate done but he has original map i can put back on so no problem there and he adjusted the actuator higher then standard, again i can change this back with a boost gauge once standard map back on
car pulled fine and gear box was silky smooth and drove and broke well.
the lad did say he thort turbo was on way out cos of the blue smoke but a few ppl said its stem seals from sound of it
so do i take the risk and get it, if the blue smoke only lasts minutes from cold its not too bad, if its blue all the time i wud walk away
whats peoples thoughts???
