    help with new GSi

    went to look at another gsi tonight, the one scrapheap mentioned,

    has done 90k with history, body and interior is mint, has a d lock on the gear stick so its made a mess of centre tunnel but easy fix with a new one, its due a timing belt change again no biggy as a mate cud do it.

    only thing he said is there was a litle blue smoke on start up but it goes after its warm, and if the cars sat still on tick over theres a little smell of oil inside the car..

    wiper motors broke, again no big prob £20 fix

    but it does have the auto wiper sensor and dimming mirror from factory

    its totally standard but has a laptop map on which his mate done but he has original map i can put back on so no problem there and he adjusted the actuator higher then standard, again i can change this back with a boost gauge once standard map back on

    car pulled fine and gear box was silky smooth and drove and broke well.

    the lad did say he thort turbo was on way out cos of the blue smoke but a few ppl said its stem seals from sound of it

    so do i take the risk and get it, if the blue smoke only lasts minutes from cold its not too bad, if its blue all the time i wud walk away

    whats peoples thoughts???

    how much is the car pal ? sounds like it should be 1 under the 4k mark , if so may be worth throwing a few hundred into it to get it right anyways , i did this after spending 1k on mine its as it should be with a few light mods here and there . dont regret buying . sounds like turbo seals to me pal nothing major , i drove mine about for a while with seals gone . maybe thats where the smell is from , check the rear left breather isnt split as this what i have just done , the smell gone on mine

    Sounds to risky for me has a few niggles and smokey engine, 90k miles.
    How much does he want?. In your other thread i thought you'd found another one with 78k on the clock.

    i would want to pay around 3.5k for that car to a max of 4k as a new turbo or oil seals is near £600

    no mate 485 for a new tubby also me personally can have a full recon done for 100 may be touch more dep on damage . 600 who in there right mind will pay that for a tubby

    £600 for a brand new vixxer tubby with fitting kit, well just shy of that is the usual price

    the one for 78k had oil in the expansion tank rad and all over the system so walked away

    this gsi tonight with 90k was straight swap for my type r with a bit of cash my way. to go towards repairs but hes been straight down line with me so i no its genuine were jo public mite say its fine when its got other probs?

    so wot u think i shud do
