    replacement turbo

I think I am in need of a new turbo as my car is smoking and using oil still aftewr just having the stem seals replaced. So this must be the case. Unfortunately. I am running a stage 4 courtenay map. 290bhp and the turbo has lasted 2 years, 20k...

Was just wondering what's the best way to replace it? Another vxr turbo costing about 500. Or to upgrade in some way. Making it more durable. As the car is a daily car and can't faff about with it all of the time.

I'm looking to keep it cheap as possible at the same time though

    Best places to go etc?

    Matt

as off my thread. you can get a vxr turbo for 480 ish atm, if you want better a hybrid unit is around 650+ depending what you want... if you want too keep cost down then you'll have to stay with the vxr turbo.

I did ask in your thread but I was told it was your thread so I made my own

Been quoted 485 for a vxr item from courtenay and 1080 for it fitted all in.

why are they charging 500 to fit it :S all you need is the gasket kit which is about 70 from autovaux and then oil and oil filter and maybe 2 hours of your own time.

fitting really isnt difficult mate, aslong as you can get access to all nuts then its easy.

i can do it with only taking the main fan off the car(2 screws and then unplug and pull out)
