    AFM why? Solutions?

    Right im looking to buy an sri turbo in the near future, just been looking at common fualts etc, iv been on here for little over a year and heard loads of problems of the Air Flow Meter going, is there any particular reason for this, and is there any cure for them to stop die-ing?

    I see airflow meters as abit of old school technology and havent had a car with them since my old Punto GT.

    The enlarged VXR Afm is supposedly a wee bit more reliable, I guess thats a kinda fix lol!

    My experience is people using oil based filters causing the afm to throw a fit when they have used to much oil, bodged afm wires when they extend them to fit a 2.2 airbox or 1.9. then you have when remapped the possibility of blowing one sooner as the increase in boost is sucking air past the afm at a much geater speed than stock. This is why they increased the size of the afm on the vxr's. dont make it put you off though, just stick with paper elements mate.

    ahh i see, mate, any recomendations of what to look out for on an sri turbo? i can see the point on the enlarged afm.
