    bad fuel consumption, why?

    Hi all i have a astra mk4 1.6 8v and im getting around 15miles for £5.

well lastnight i got 12 miles on £5 i dont drive like a idiot nor do i rag it around, even if i did i dont think i could use that much petrol.

changed fuel filter and serviced the engine which hasnt helped at all, what else could cause it?

any help would be great thank you.

£5 in fuel is a waste of money especially due to these woeful fuel costs. £15 of fuel is the new £10 unfortunatelty. your better off not putting anything at all if your going to put a fiver in

Checking tyre pressures and servicing your car regualy can help with mpg.

Even if i'm just stuck in traffic going to work i'd still get 20 miles out of £5

A good service, Keep an eye on tyre preassures and put a bit more fuel in. Think for a fiver you are putting in just under 4 litres!

i think its more to do with the fuel costs. i remember my 8v corsa wasnt that great on fuel though. your better off brimming the tank. then resetting the odometer. do whatever driving you need to do until you get down to say a quarter of a tank. then write down how much mileage youve done, then refill the tank, and therfore however much you have to refill your tank with (say 35 litre for example) is how much youve used over your mileage. then type it into here - http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php

its really difficult to record your mpg when your putting in such a small amount of fuel.
