Question Steering wheel controls have a mind of their own!

    Hi folks,

I have an Astra G with the audio controls on the steering wheel. A year or two ago I replaced the standard radio with a pioneer unit and installed the required adaptors so the controls worked with it.

Today I find that the volume controls on the right of the wheel now behave strangely; the mute button is fine but the volume up button occasionally mutes the sound and the volume down button either turns the volume up or does nothing. This started out of the blue during my drive home.

I'm thinking it could be the controls or the adaptor unit has started playing up.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Cheers

Hey bud, had this exact same problem with a Sony unit.. volume up was change track, change track was menu etc.. I simply drew it out, checked all the wires thoroughly and hey presto, problem solved. Must of been a wire loose somewhere but it hasnt done it again since

Well I tried pulling the unit out to check the connections and the jack plug from the steering controls must have been loose as it fell down the back of the centre console and I had to take the glove box out to find it

Once I had it all back together it works again! Thanks for the advice.
