    Help with engine please :)

Right, i started the car this morning, no problems, ran fine, about 5 miles down the road, i needed speed to overtake a car, dropped it into 2nd and nailed it, but it got to 5000 rpm and felt as if i had just slammed the brakes on. Managment light came on and traction light?

Ive checked for fault codes but all thats stored is maf sensor, p0100 :S

Cars runnin slightly ropey now, but just cant figure out whats wrong, any help is appreciated

Oh just to say its an astra coupe, z20let

Thats usually maf or map sensor I believe especially if it starts running in limp mode

Would it make the car feel like the brakes were slammed on though?
    Cheers for the reply

p0100 is mass air flow sensor circuit fault, you could be one of the unlucky ones and have blown it. If you are using any type of oiled airfilter element change back to standard setup or 1.9tdi box. I know for a fact that the oil causes the sensor to play games as ive seen it on live data on the snap on tool solus pro. You could whip out the map sensor and clean it with contact cleaner but I dont think its your problem.

Where is the circuit, and are they expensive? I am using a filter, but was only temporary until i got my derv box :'(.
What are the chances of any more damage being done, and what will happen if the circuit is blown, will it mess the car up?
Alot of questions i know, but you got me worried lol
    Cheers

check to see if any boost hoses have blew off first, if you dropped it and booted it if any are slightly lose it would pop off, giving both traction and maf fault codes, and a huge loss in power instantly

though if there all ok, then id go for the maf

The bad idle can also be from using stock gm plugs, if its logged that code then there is a good chance the AFM is on its way out this is why your engine feels lumpy at idle. Like the other lads said check all the easy stuff first like pipes and vac hoses before you buy a new one.
