    Annoying whirring sound

I have recently noticed a very annoying high pitched whirring sound at tickover on my 2010 1.6cc Astra H. I'm Guessing it's coming from the power steering pump, but should it be running while the car is stationary, do they all do this?
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Dealer reckons it is normal for the power steering motor whirr continually and added that they are quite noisy, so that's alright then.

Check power steering fluid initially, if it's abnormally loud then I'd get it checked if you can.

The PS pump should only be heard when turning the wheel, then not at all loud,

I put a brand new pump on one of my cars recently as a matter of course in a rebuild and it is very silent, so the older they get the noisier they become.
