Urgent advise on MOT needed, please read

    Hi,

Just got my coupe through an MOT but I knew there was an issue with the rear fogs which were not working.

I took it to my local garage before the MOT to try and sort it..... there was a missing relay... which cae to £4.75 from Vxl.

Anyway..... the final bill includiong the MOT was £185 which I queried and they said they had to take the dash out, the headlight switch out and the vents out to install the relay.

I thought the relay baord was located behind the little panel where all the fuses were, or am I missing something here?

If I'm right I'm going to go back to them and demand a reduced bill!!

    Thanks guys

Looks like they have tried to rip you off, go back, grab the mot tester by the tab and undo the fuse box and pull it out, show it him, and demand a refund.

I'd of thought it was there too :/ hopefully someone can clear this up but can't imagine it would be a dash out business for a relay!

im certain it isnt, the rear fog relay is clearly shown on the diagram above, and i cant imagine they would have needed to remove the fuse board fully to fit this in.

I'm sure there is a release tab that drops the fuse box down to make it easier to change relays and fuses - Anyway what happened to a phone call to quote you first before carrying out work. Work must be authorised before doing anything. I run a busy independant garage and wouldn't dream of it

I know there is the quick release flap which drops down with the fuses then if you pull them it comes out further to access the relays but wasn't sure if there was something else I was missing before I go in all guns blazing.
Not paid yet so am gonna go there on Saturday and ask them to show me exactly why they had to take the dashboard out.
    Thanks guys

I'd ask them to first show you where the relay is that was replaced, then if it is indeed the one in the usual fuse box, show then the correct access and reduce the bill accordingly.
