    change in turbo 'feel'?

Just thought id ask on here to get some insight into something i know NOOOOOOOOTHING about.

When I bought my car back in July this year, a very common er....characteristic of the car was that if you hit over 2500rpm a bit too sharply then I (and everyone else in the car agreed) could feel a slight sort of 'bump' as the turbo spooled up. This would happen all the time between gear changes as I'd be changing gears right at the point the turbo starts to kick in.

For the last 2 months, I can't sort of feel the turbo kicking in any more..at all. The power is there, but, its a lot smoother - though when you do put your foot down the power doesn't seem as savage as when I first had it, seems more tame and not as quick :< not sure if its all in my head because I'm now used to the car or if there's something not right

The only thing I've changed since having the car is the petrol it runs on. Swapped from ordinary fuel to 99 octane. Would this change how the turbo feels?

    cheers for any feedback

its probably a combo of all of what you guys have said. When i got the car in July, I'd never driven anything with over ..... 70bhp :| so to skip up to over 200 was pretty scary at first.

The car definitely feels alot smoother than when I first had it but it just doesn't seem as powerful. I really need to get a boost gauge inmyvain - would I be able to see right away if something isn't right with the turbo? (I've read a few times about boost pressure/psi?)
