    lambda sensor - live data.

Hi, put a snap-on scanner on my gsi today & put it onto live data & the lambda sensor readings before the cat were going up & down as it should but the one after the cat was just sat at 451. Is the one after the cat meant to go up & down like the other one? Want to know weather my lanbda sensor is faulty.
Also are both sensors the same?
If so i could swap them over & see if the redings change.
    Does anyone here know?

    Thanks

Did u warm the car properly? The lambda after the car should begin to alternate between rich and lean if ur using opcom or on a multimetre should switch between 100mV to 800mV or 0.1V to 0.8V. Your lambda sensor my be lazy and not do this. Has ur fuel consumption gone up?
If in doubt just change it but buy genuine Bosch direct fit as instead of universal, they are about £20 deerer but worth it because you won't get any hastle where as a universal may not work correctly like I had. I've just changed my post cat 1 but used a universal 1st.... Big mistake!

Just to add: there is loads of good info on the net on lambda sensors which might be worth a look to help you out a bit more..

Didn't really shop around but I got my 1 from a motor factors near me the second time who only sell genuine Bosch units I paid about £70 Inc vat. Think Vauxhall were £83 plus vat.

I would definetly try another lambda sensor after the cat, it should start switching over as soon as the engine is warm. you could give it clean to see if it helps for the time being.

The first o2 lambda ( precat) is what the ECU uses for fuel mixture, the 2nd o2 sensor which is normally after a sports cat is looking at the efficiency of the cat, this 2nd reading shouldnt wonder too much

    here's a typical readout
