Cheap garage for engine swap near Ripon?

    As above really.

I'm replacing my z22se as the big end has gone.

My usual garage have said approx £500 labour. Does this sound fair? Although I realise there's a bit of work to do, it still seems a bit steep to me.

    Cheers

I'd say thats cheaper than most garages may quote. Why not have a go yourself?

If you were closer I'd do it.

On friendly rates I paid £350 and that included some new gaskets for the inlet/exhaust manifold and a few other sundries.

By the time you add in new oil, filters, coolant etc. it starts to add up.

ideally i would, but dont have the tools, time or skill.
would £100 petrol money and a pint persuade you?

i'm going to have a ring around some garages, but in fairness, £500 sounds ok?

So why not learn? £150 will get you an engine crane, £100 will get you a Halfords pro tool set, then you just need a few other things like jacks, axle stands.

It's not hard if you take your time.

You'll save money and learn something
