    Shocks & Springs

OK some of you may think I'm lazy or w/e but in truth I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to ordering parts and so on...

my car is 2003 SXI Z16XE and I'm looking for front shock absorbers and rear springs for a cheap price...lol

Also not sure on this but is it true that the SXI comes with a stiffer and lower set up (10-15mm) than the standard 1.6 8v/16v club and so on and if so does that I mean I defo can't just order some springs and shocks for 1.4/1.6?

Basically I've asked a friend of mine who is a mechanic and hes offering to do the front shockers (but keep old springs) and put new springs on the rear for £200 all in including labour.

is that an OK deal? they'll apparently be standard parts using my reg for part no's.

if not can someone point me in the right direction, I think he'll also fit the parts if I source my own but wanting to know which is the best thing to do?

no each shocker is priced at £44 each so £88 for the pair,

then the rear springs are £30 each so thats £60 for the pair,

and then going to fit them to the car also.

£200 in total thats inclusive of the part costs above.

so hes asking for about £50 to fit them basically.

doesnt sound too bad then, the springs are lower dont think the shocks are stiffer or shortened but could be corrected soon

Unless you're a brand snob, you'll get a setup like Jamex for well under £200 - new shocks and new springs, -40mm drop so for an SXi that equates to an additional -20mm.

For the money they're superb, can't fault mine and they've been on for about 18 months + now.

    Checkout performance3000 on eBay.

I'm not really a brand snob or anything,

Ideally I'd want the standard gear as I wouldn't wanna declare any more modifications to the car as my insurance is already something I detest paying can't think what they would add if I was to add more mods

However I don't know we'll see + I would need them fitting I'm no mechanic and I'll admit I'm not good with stuff like that lol too scared of messing it up
