Advice on stereo fitting (WARNING! Newbie content!)

Hi, forgive me, I am new here! Have had a bit of a look around here (and on 'net!) but can't find what I am looking for (maybe not looking hard enough!)

Anyway, back to the point at hand! I have just bought a 2001 1.7DTi and want to swap the stereo, (do have replacement to hand) the one in there at mo is a rather decrepit looking aftermarket unit that doesn't seem to be bolted to the centre console (and doesn't work!)! Just wondering if a fascia and wiring adaptors are needed! (worst comes to worst I'll pop the car to Halfords for stereo fitment, but if I can do it myself.....)

    Cheers

    Sam

You should get an adaptor with it and a cage for it to sit in the dash. What kind of stereo are you gonna fit?

    Hey GSI_F1N,
Cheers for prompt reply, the replacement is a JVC KD-R411 (I know, nowt special!) I had it fitted to my old car (which finally succeeded commited suicide over the Hols) in Oct, and just want to swap it over (so should have cage from that fitting to reuse!)
    Cheers

Yeah will be straight forward. Vauxhall 2 plug fitment is pretty common on most stereo's.

    No bother.
Get some pics of your car up when you get a chance.

Right, the stereo is now fitted, cage took a bit of fettling so it didn't wobble, and getting all the wires crammed back into the centre console was quite an ordeal, but all in now and it works! RESULT!!
