How many of you pay full whack for items?

Some items can get into really stupid figures for what they are. To explain....

There's only a few grills i like for the MK4. The one that i've done. The one another member has done (same idea as mine with the new griffin, but he did it better with a proper badge), mark b's irmscher one, the steinmetz one & that's about it.

So i was looking up the steinmetz & irmscher grills - silly money!!

I was looking up rear lights. I bought in some smoked ones (folk on eBay like to call them SXi/GSi rears) for £40+£5 postage. Not a bad result.

I was looking at other possibilities such as http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/Eurosty...a-G-Hatch.html but £150 for a set of rear lights? Forget that!

These aren't even the best examples, as some things are piddly items which cost a bomb. None come to mind at the mo but i've seen them before.

I know they can be had for reasonable prices in the classifieds/eBay if you're patient enough.

Am i in the minority though here? How many of you wouldn't think twice about shelling that kind of money on those kind of items?

Hundreds/thousands on engine mods, yes. Big changes such as new bonnets etc yes, it's not expense like that that i'm trying to describe, but a pair of bloody lights at £150??
Such as the irmscher (not meaning to be 'picking on' them) door pins which are about £30 for TWO. Mad price!!!

Not wanting to get into the nonsense of "you don't HAVE to pay for them" as we're not discussing have to and don't have to. I'm just simply asking the question.

I like to pick them up second hand if possible. I did pay £95 for the opc grille but wanted that new.

Irmy rears are on my wanted list next, aint paying that much for them though.

I was just wondering if i was a tigh bastid lol.

I probably still am, but there you go. If they took say, 25/50% off some of their items then i'd do it, i just think a lot of the styling stuff is way overpriced.

Most of the stuff on mine is 2nd hand.

Got some stuff new like the turbo as wouldn't want to risk a 2nd hand one.

I paid over £100 on shipping alone for my rear lights.

Alot of things though its always better to shop around as you will find too many places put a nice big markup on items. some items as well are just as good getting 2nd hand instead of new even if they do require a little bit of work to get them looking nice again.

you want something that bad you will pay the price?

ok, for example, an irmy grill...

too expensive for you to pay full whack for, that means when they come up on ebay people are like vultures and 9 out of ten times it will hold its value.

    or..
its in such a state its "cheap" (for a reason)

im all for a second hand bargain but some things you just have to pay through the nose..

ive been after some irmscher mats for my mk5. rrp is £75 on ebay, the second hand ones (still in good nick) are fetching £50/60?
i'm beginning to admit defeat and just buy new for the extra few quid..
