Kenwood cd player vs steering controls in my Astra!

Hi everyone i have a 53 plats 1.6 sxi and ive just ditched the standard cdr 500 for a Kenwood cd player.

I have fitted the player no worries and all works fine except the stering controls dont work?

Can anyone shed any light on this please? there is a yellow/blue wire coming off the kenwood wiring saying stering remote control? does this help?

    Thanks in advance

What model head unit? You will need steering control adaptor leads regardless of the model, and some of the cheaper models don't have the facility to use the steering controls at all, even with adaptor leads.

Its the Kenwood KDC-4547UB and i checked before i bought it that it has the steering controls which it does haha.

I have a wire coming out the back saying steering remote control? and in the instructions it says i need an exclusive remote adapter to match the car?

Haha ive looked on the net and can see wiring adapters and patch wires and all sorts haha i dont know which one to get, and then is it a case of splicing the wire or what? lol

    Sorry for all the questions!

Unless it supports steering control and the dash display, I think you need this:

    http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-aud...remote-adaptor

If it also supports the dash display (as in the clock in the centre console), then this should be the one instead:

    http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-aud...remote-adaptor

These (or equivalents elsewhere) just connect to the existing wiring, no wires to cut etc.

Ah right cheers, so I don't need to worry about the wire that's not connected to anything saying steering remote control?

Not at the moment, but it would connect to one of the suitable kits above.
