    Help & Advice Needed

    Hi
    Im after a bit of advice for my build

    At the minute I have
    Garrett GT28RS Turbo

    Now do i get a tubular or cast manifold
    Internal or External waistgate

    And will it be worth upgrading anything else while im doing any of the above

    it all depends on what power u want to go and how far u want to go.

    under 400bhp go for a cast over 400bhp go for the tubuler mani as for internal or external it all depends on if u going to use it on the road or track use.

    if you can go for an external waste gate like a Tial, far superior imo.

    just have the it connected back up to the exhaust system so its not so noisey on full boost.

    Ill be aiming for around 350bhp but i might be as well getting a tubular manifold so its future proof then. Is there a particular tubular manifold anyone can recommend.

    I plan on Getting forged pistons and conrods is that all is required internally wise.

    As for the waistgate are there many advantages of having an external one and does it all fit

    GT28RS has internal wastegate and imo doesn't flow anywhere near enough to justify adding an external WG.

    At this horsepower you will be better with a cast manifold in my opinion.

    Other upgrades depend on your long term power goals and also your budget.

    My plan is just to make it future proof so i dont have to worry about uprating as much later on. Im aiming for around 350bhp which shouldn't be to hard to achieve. Just want to make it as solid as i can for now.

    Would you say an external waist gate with the gt28rs is not worth it at all then

    I plan on uprating the pistons and Conrods as well. Is it worthwhile doing anything else while the engine will be stripped down to that extent as well

    No point in running external gate no, more a factor on larger chargers when boost creep can be an issue on IWG turbo's.

    If you are doing rods and pistons, then do the lot, lighten / balance bottom end, delete balancer shafts, heavy duty new bearings (ACL / Glyco), ARP bolts. Perhaps consider head work such as porting it, cams can be done later so not essential yet.

    If you want to run oversized pistons you will need a rebore + hone.
