Angry Failed MOT - Thats Kwik Fit for you

    Hi all..

Coupe when in for an early MOT and it failed.. I had a feeling it would, but it didn't fail on the parts I thought it would

I was worried about the emissions test as I had changed the exhaust. But it failed on.

Regisration plate blub not working (1.1.C1c)
Nearside Headlamp aim too far to the right (1.
Offside Headlamp not working on dipped beam (1.7.4a)
Offside Headlamp aim not tested (1.
Offside front Macpherson struct has excessive movment at upper attachment (2.5.A.1c)

Kwik-Fit wanted £119.10 to fix the problems..

I told them where to stick it when they said a reg bulb was £10

Went to the local Wilko Motor store and got the beam for £6.99, reg bulb for 63p. All this is now working. Ordered the mount at £15 and the guy who did my exhaust will fit it for £40.

In total it has cost me £60.10 doing myself (kinda)

    £15 for a retest.

Now the bad new!!! The astra will be going. I have a finance company who will supply me with a 2 seater convertable (we discussed MGTF's, MX-5's, TT's, RX

Looks like next week I may nolonger be a vauxhall owner. But I can tell you this it has been fun, and I want to tank everyone who has helped, shouted, Sold, Bought, Abused (just kidding) me since I joined!!!!!
Be an optimist - at least until they start moving animals in pairs to Cape Canaveral.

£10 for a bulb? For one frigging plate bulb?

Then again, maybe most of that would be the labour charge. How long would it take Kwik Fit to fit this bulb ey?!

    Badoom tish.

Why the hell take it there in the first place????

Youve clearly made an assumption based on the service they gave you but you must have heard similar stories to say "Thats KF for you" suggesting you're not surprised??

If thats the case then surely its nobody's fault but your own for taking it there in the first place!

Maybe Ive missed something here but if you were oblivious to their high pricing strategy etc before you took it there then surely you wouldnt come up with daft statements like you have!

On a side note, I wonder what Vauxhalls price would have been for the same work??

WOW you saved some money...... a company was trying to make a quick buck!

    Not exactly news is it???
