Hi, I've got a 2000 1.8 Asstra Coupe, code X18XE1 and the cambelt snapped so I have since sourced another engine asnd removed the old 1, but having looked at them both, the the engine mounts and cambelt routes are different, I think the new 1 I bought is from a Vectra. Has anyone had a problem like this before?
All the codes are the same so the basic engine is the same but the cambelt route and a lack of a mount on the cambelt side have thrown me. Is it possible the plastic cambelt cover is hiding the holes for the mount? Are the pulleys in the same position? (I'd imagine so), is there an eassy round this?
Any help much appreciated as I'm somewhat stuck and need this done before new Years!
