    Cool turbo faulty?

    Hi
    I have a 54 reg New shape H? Astra 1.7 CDTi DTH 100 Hp.

I`ve owned this car for just over a year and has 87k miles

The car has been making a whoop noise from under the bonnet on acceleration and when you press the gas pedal, which made me think it was an induction leak?

The sound has got worse and now sounds like a police car when you press/ release the gas.

As I drove home the car lacked power, I have removed the turbe inlet pipes to check them and checked the turbo blades with my finger, it seems like there is alot of resistance when turning the blades,
    My questions are

    should the turbo spin freely?

could the whooping sound be the bearings seizing?

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement / Re-furbished / Re-Paired or mine Re-paired ASAP Anyone open before 4th Jan???? Sussex/Kent area?

    Your help is appriciated

    Cy

    Cheers for the replies
I`m a bit wary about getting one from a scrappy incase I fit another worn one.
It may well come to that to get me back on the road.

    Cheers

yes the shaft should spin free your problem does sound bearing related.

best option is a new unit but it could be rebuilt if its just bearings and seals it would be under £200
