What are the costs involved in a Z20LET conversion

Evening all, ive be toying with the idea of putting the car back to standard and selling up at buying an Sri-T but i really like the look of my car and im 90% complete on the exterior and about half way there inside.

I no you can get the engine gearbox and looms and ecu etc for around £1600 but what else is needed parts wise as the bloke next door is a mechanic and said he would help me out with droping the engine in as he ows me a favour.

i dont really want to get rid of mine but if its more finacially viable then i suppose ide have too

i think theres a bit more to it than just dropping it in.

    driveshafts
    brake upgrade
    suspension upgrade

    thats just a few things

Need to change the dash loom I think.

Plus you need to make sure the engine is fully complete with Intercooler ect ect.

I reckon you could do the conversion for under 2k.

    IF I Remember Correctly bud.

You could get an old Astra coupe Turbo for about 2k, nab the running gear, and break the rest to make up for some money. Probably get rid of the otherstuff for about 3-400 depending on coupe turbos spec.

I would do what toms1989 suggested. You could pick a coupe turbo up for pence these days & if you buy a standard example you can hear it running ect & still make money back.

If it has leathers & standard turbo rims that about £700 back.

Bumpers about £140 for the pair.

It's definatley worth having a think about it.
