    Astra J "Snow good"

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Obviously everybody from the U.K will no we have had snow recently, has anybody noticed how the Astra J does'nt seem to be the greatest car on snow! Yeah i no i no its not suppost to be 4x4 or is designed to drive on snow, but i`ve come out of a corsa into an astra and i cant help thinking the corsa was far more composed on the snow with minimal tyre spin. My Astra J just seems to wheel spin, slip and slide! The trackion control flashes but does'nt seem to solve the problem.

turn the TC off for a start as TC is useless in the snow , and low revs high gear and its easy driving

Thats because you cant drive on snow Come to Norway and I show you have to drive, and you can take with you a good pair of snowtires home to UK. Im putting mine on a big test tomorrow. Im going up to my cabin in the mountains. The roads up there are snow and ice. What you are having now, we have for 3-4 months :P

The 19's on mine might look great but make for crap driving in the snow. Going into work last week I got stuck on a little incline and had to abandon the car at the side of the road and walk into work about 500 yards away.

woho! raced a BMW x5 up the mountain today and I won. The TC worked well kept the Astra steady.

Do you use any kind of snow tires? It is big difference between German and Scandinavian snow tires.

Must be down to the bigger wheels and low profile tyres. My astra hasn't had any issues in the snow, with 17's My insignia was awful in the snow last year.

I've got a astra j Sri 1.7td diesel and it's rubbish in snow with or without traction control on and I'm cadence brake trained and have driven loads of different vehicles in Norway (in forces) so like to think I know what I'm doing but the astra doesn't allow you to drive how you want can't pull off a low rpm in second at all just stalls violently, but when I jump back into my astra coupe it does what I want it to do ;-)

Oh we don't get enough snow here to warrant buying snow tyres so there just normal road tyres
