    hi and help pls

    hi im new here so be gentle

    i have a 1998 astra tds.
    the problem i have i the rev counter started to diethen gave up.
    the battery keeps going flat.
    i have been told its the charer relay but i dont know where to locate.
    or is it just alt packed up.

    I would say alternator/battery problem personally. Most likely from the sounds of it the rectifier on the alternator has failed which in turn has killed your battery.

    i have had jump leads on it , it starts but then dies as soon as i remove them.


    has anyone had the same problem.

    i was told by a mate it was the charger relay

    sounds more like your alternator is not working in some way and that your battery has been drained - hence the reason why your having to use the jump leads to start

    no point charging battery or replacing until you figure out why the alternator is not providing any power - could be several reasons why, broken wire to goosed alternator
