    what paint?

    Thinking of painting the plastic cover on my astra van DTi engine. i know ill need plastic primer for it, but what paint is best to go for? high temp paint? Thanks

    I just used normal spray onto plastic primer on my 1.6 16v, and petrol engine bays tend to be a bit hotter than derv, so you should be fine

    Normal colour paint will be fine. Plastic primer is recommended as it will flex slightly with the plastic. Standard primer may crack with flexing.

    Engine bay won't get hot enough to damage standard paint on an engine cover.

    I have standard paint/plastic primer on my engine cover and that's in a Calibra V6 engine bay which can be a warm place to be

    Normal paint will do the job just fine.

    Only thing I have noticed with mine is that when anything wet touches it, It tends to dry and mark it. Got a load of salt marks on mine at the minute.
