    Overheating

Just over a week ago my radiator burst so I ordered a new one. It arrived on Tuesday and fitted it. When I filled it back up it didn't take a huge amount of water, around 4 litres max. Today I drained it back down and tried refilling it again and it took around the same amount of water. I squeezed the rad pipes and they were full of water and the header tank has water in it.

It reaches temp ok, a little quicker than usual though and doesn't overheat when on idle. When it's taken out it does overheat though and I've had to pull over and take the pressure off of the system. I've taken it out a couple of times and does the same everytime. It's now been parked up and won't be taken out until I can get it sorted.

The heating doesn't work in the car either as it blows out cold air or sometimes just warm air for a few seconds.

The car is a MK4 Astra 1.6 16V twinport Z16XEP if it matters.

That's the only thing I could think of. I was just wondering if there was anything else it could be.

It could be new stat time.

I had the water pump changed a couple of months ago so hopefully it should still be ok. The thermostat is more expensive than the water pump anyway as mines is a twinport model. Nothing's cheap for it. The new rad cost £128 plus vat.
