    Question vaniashing coolant

started my car today as i got in the shower (mk4 astra 1.4)
came out to go to work and the vents where still blowing cold air even though the temp was at 90
lifted the bonnet and there is a distinct lack off water/antifreeze in the header tank ie none!
seems to have happened overnight as theirs have been a very consistent amount in the tank since iv had the car
last time i looked was last week and it was fine
looked for a puddle underneath the car but coldnt find one. only a small one where the ice was melting at the front
the radiators where warm but not 90 degrees found some anti freeze down the garden and chucked it in (i have red in there and the stuff i put in is blue is that ok???) added some water and closed the bonnet
drove down the road still with no heating
then bam! massive about off very hot air started flooding the cockpit.
this made me happy as its very cold outside

but anyway where did my coolant go
im going to empty it all out tomorrow and refill it as im think its still got the original anti in it and its a 10 year old car
    could do with a change
if it ant broke, don't fix it.....mod it! MK4 flip keys £13.99

Ummm only thing I can think of is Head Gasket if there is no evidence of a leak. Also I'm quite sure its not a good idea to put two different types of coolant into the car as when mixed they can turn acidic and start eating away at the inside of your engine.

Was there any white smoke out of the exhaust? If it hasn't leaked onto the floor then head gasket is likely to have gone.
