    Viability of Mk2 Project

    Afternoon all,
I'm new around here and wanted to seek advice from those in the know on the feasibility of a Mk2 project I'm considering.
Having reached a certain age in life, I'm getting nostalgic and look back fondly on the first car I bought and owned - a 1.3-litre Mk2 estate and I'm sure it was a 3dr although memeory can be a funny thing (it was 20+ years ago that I gave it to my sister).
Whatever, I'd like to really get my teeth stuck into making a project out of a 3dr estate (brakes, engine swap, nice suspension, bodywork, interior, etc, etc) but how likely am I to track down a decent one down? Haven't been able to find one in the usual places and searching the for sale forum here drew zero results.
What are your thoughts, chaps? I've just completed a four-year project on a 1975 Toyota Celica and do not need the pain I went through sourcing parts for it. Am I begging for trouble?

Very very rare car, something that you;ll probably be very lucky to get a hold off. I can only recall ever seeing a handful of 3door estate;s and the last one I seen was years ago. Could be worth asking over on www.astra-mk2.com. Another option could be to buy a MK2 Astra van, cut the side panels out and make it into a car, the vans are all based on estate cars.

    Astra Mk2 Estate

    Hi,
I have a red 1.3 Mk2 Estate 1987 but with 4 doors, looking for a new home. Owned since 1990, most reliable car I have ever had, virtually original at 215k miles.

Can post pics if anyone's interested.
