    2.2 re-map?

Someone told me they could remap my 2.2 up to 172bhp for £150.. is he talking rubbish or does it really have that potential? I always thought remap gains out of petrol engines were very minimal.

As I expected Cheers for the reply.

What gains would I realistically expect? Only mods are the upgraded 'beeston' air intake, pipercross air filter, and a straight through centre pipe.

It won't be much on the top end.. possibly 5-10.

BUT if it's a decent map the car will have a map specific to itself, and will be more responsive and drivable right through the rev range. It's not all about the big number at the top of the rev range cos in normal driving you never really go there, and if you do it's not for long.

Mid-range delivery is where it's at for normal folk.

But I'd advise caution before committing to any map provided by anyone except a proper creditable tuner. Pikey-tuners may cost you more than £150 in the long run

My advise would be don't bother. Unless you have made significant changes to the engine, it's just not worth it on non-turbo engines.
