    What is the standard size base on a household bulbs?

    Is it E27?

    Normally BC (bayonet connection), but ES (eddison screw) seem to becoming more popular

    you can get smaller versions of each too

    Screw in will be an 'E' then and the following number is the diameter of the thread in millimetres. So E27 is a 27mm dia Edison screw.

    Other standard European ones are E11 and E14. If It's a normal size bulb the chances are it's E27
