    225/35/18 ET42 on Coupe?

hey guys, i found a set of alloys on ebay and im wondering if they will fit my coupe without rubbing, there 18x8 ET42 was planning on putting 225/35 tyres on them.

I have read lots of threads where people say only 215 will fit, but i have also seen people who have fitted 225 tyres without any rubbing at all im guessing its down to the offset as i say these wheels are ET42 all info will be appreciated.

Forgot to mention its lowered 40mm on standard shocks

    Thanks.

215 is the ideal width but I do know a few people who run 225's without problems. The rolling radius will also be a bit high with 35 profile on 225s on 18s. Et42 is a tad on the low side too, but again, its not wildly out. Unless they are super-cheap or very desirable alloys I would find a more suitable alloy and tyre combination.

225 on a coupe will pull ur arches unless u have them rolled.

you will feel this more if you have a soft set up on the car or its lowerd

i've just bought some 18s and they rub like a bitch on my hatch.

    off43 18x7 1/2jj A-205
    225/40

i'm assuming i've bought a stupid size, is there any way to stop them rubbing on the arches or am i going to have to replace the wheels (again)?

wheel size is fine, tyres are the problem. Has been said loads of times that 225/40 will rub, 215/35 is what you need. 225/40 are just too chunky for a MK4
